Tesla Drops Underperforming Cybertruck Trim Due to Weak Demand

Tesla has ended production of the Long Range Rear-Wheel-Drive Cybertruck, a short-lived configuration that failed to gain traction with buyers.

Why It Fell Short
Launched at $69,990, the trim was $10,000 cheaper than the All-Wheel-Drive version but lacked key features. It had a single motor, textile seats, a 7-speaker system instead of 15, no rear touchscreen, no powered tonneau cover, and no 120v/240v outlets.

For just $10,000 more, customers could buy the All-Wheel-Drive model, which included all those upgrades plus a stronger powertrain—making the cheaper option far less appealing.

Customer Reaction
On Twitter, Zack wrote: “AWD worth $10k more imo.” Another buyer added, “Sorry. It just isn’t worth that much. I would buy the dual motor at that price, before incentives. The old F150 still runs good.”

The Road Ahead
Tesla will now focus on the All-Wheel-Drive ($72,490) and Cyberbeast ($114,990) trims, both of which align better with customer expectations.

Conclusion
By cutting the underperforming model, Tesla is streamlining the Cybertruck lineup to emphasize value and performance, showing once again how quickly it responds to market feedback.
