Tesla Semi Has Received Positive Feedback from Veteran Truckers

After real-world road testing, the Tesla Semi has received positive feedback from experienced drivers. This was showcased in a Run on Less by NACFE video, which documented Saia Freight drivers operating the all-electric Class 8 truck on standard routes.

These real-world tests provided a more direct insight into how the Tesla Semi performs in actual operations, rather than relying solely on the manufacturer’s demonstrations.

Usability and Power in Action

Tom Sterba, a senior driver at Saia, called the Semi a major technological advancement for the industry. “The navigation systems in these trucks are just unbelievable. That’s what I love about it,” he said.
Sterba even added, “I do not want to go back to a gas truck. I hope I retire in this vehicle.”

Another experienced driver, Michael Davis, said he immediately volunteered to drive the Tesla Semi when it became available. He noted that the truck did not disappoint him, particularly highlighting its powerful performance.
“I wanted to drive something new, so I wanted to drive that Tesla truck, and it did not disappoint at all. I experienced no problems with the powertrain. It’s total power,” Davis said.

Tesla Semi’s Growing Momentum

Tesla is accelerating its Semi project while also building a dedicated factory near Giga Nevada. The company expects to begin producing the first Semis at this factory this year, with plans to gradually ramp up production next year.

According to The Cool Down, Tesla expects the factory to produce up to 50,000 Semis annually, making it one of the highest-volume truck manufacturing facilities in the U.S. The Semi offers significant potential benefits: beyond reducing emissions, it can lower maintenance costs and deliver long-term operational savings.

Conclusion

The Tesla Semi is more than just a new truck—it’s a glimpse into the future of transportation. Veteran drivers praise its usability and power, while Tesla’s production plans indicate serious commitment to scaling electric trucking. For those in the industry, the Semi isn’t just an experiment—it’s a sign that electric trucks are ready for the road.
