Tesla Model Y leads sales rush in Norway in August 2025

If there’s one place in Europe where Tesla continues to shine, it’s Norway. This August, the American EV maker once again proved its strength in the Nordic market, thanks in large part to the ever-popular Model Y.

August by the Numbers

According to data from TeslaStats.no, Tesla delivered 2,959 vehicles in August, marking a 38.59% increase compared to the 2,135 units sold during the same month last year. Most of these sales came from the refreshed Model Y, which alone accounted for 2,450 deliveries, making it the best-selling car in Norway in August 2025, based on EU-EVs’ estimates.

The dominance was so clear that by late August, Swedish auto site CarUp estimated Tesla already controlled about 22% of the entire Norwegian car market—a remarkable feat, especially considering the company faced a rocky start to the year in Europe with the Model Y transition and lingering criticism of CEO Elon Musk.

Momentum That’s Been Building

This strong August isn’t an isolated win. Tesla has been gaining momentum in Norway throughout 2025. In June, the Norwegian Road Federation (OFV) reported registrations up 54% year-over-year, with Model Y sales soaring 115% compared to June 2023. Even more impressive was May, when Tesla’s sales shot up 213%, according to CNBC.

Why Norwegians Love the Model Y

So, what makes the Model Y such a hit? Christina Bu, secretary general of the Norwegian EV Association (NEVA), summed it up well: Tesla is offering a car that’s practical, valuable, and well-suited for Norwegian lifestyles.

With spacious cargo space, all-wheel drive, towing capacity, higher ground clearance, and intuitive digital systems—all backed by Tesla’s robust Supercharger network—the Model Y ticks nearly every box for drivers navigating Norway’s unique terrain and weather.

Conclussion

Tesla’s success in Norway shows no signs of slowing down. With the upgraded Model Y continuing to win over buyers, Tesla has not only solidified its market share but also accelerated the country’s transition to electric vehicles.
